Good day!

So, basically, its cold.
Probably why Evie the Cat is still in bed.
Ill walk, vacuum, edit, & monitor the NFL games.
I hunger for another hiking adventure. Birds calling, snow crunchingoh yes. Cant wait.

Trekking the Oak Creek West Fork Trail near Sedona
Magnificent Oak Creek Canyon from the scenic vista on Highway 89AWhile in Sedona, we hiked a good portion of the in . Located deep inside impressive , this trail is well worth a visit.
This startlingly beautiful trail is a truly unique adventure since it crosses the lovely Oak Creek 13 times, with only one (closest to the trailhead) being a bridge.  Otherwise its up to the hiker to carefully tread across assembled stones, logs, ice, or all of the above to reach the opposite bank.Images of the three fords are shown below.
Fortunately, the water level was running low and while ice was present, it didnt cause most of the fording to be slick. In fact, for one fording spot, this author felt more comfortable slowly sliding my feet across the ice than attempt the rather jumbled  assembly of logs and rocks. Definitely bring at least one, preferably two hiking sticks with you for this trip, especially if you are uneasy on your feet in these situations.
Looking up towards the canyon rim.Due to the waning daylight, we made it across the stream four times in each direction along the trail. Despite this, the canyon was spectacular, especially the rugged and steep stone walls rising up from the floor to the rim.
Outstanding rock formations along the trail corridor.Unlike many canyons in the Southwest, Oak Creek has a heavily wooded floor, which would come in handy during hotter weather. When we hiked the trail, the temperatures were in the 40s, though noticeably cooler in the shaded areas.
Abandoned outbuilding ruins at the former Gilbert LodgeThe only downside is there is a fee to enter even if you have the . Similarly, the lower cost for the Sedona area does not apply here, though the is accepted. So, unless you have that specific pass, be sure to bring some cash with you.
Peace and happy hiking!

Good day!
Im never more alive than when exploring, whether in nature or in story. Seasons make even old explorations new again, like turning pages.
10F (-12.2C) now. I look forward to walking, & my next chapter.

Good day!
A lovely, though easy hike this morning in a wild area thats only two miles from my home. Its the best kept secret in the city.
The forecasted cloudy weather disappeared almost right away.

Good day!
A short hike scheduled. I've a list of river/stream hikes to do as I acclimate to more serious winter hiking.
Ran into a Bk3 chapter I shouldve listed as a bleeder. Its critical to Glistenelles arc & contains important foreshadowing

Good day!
Another good editing day yesterday. Editing, rather than a chore, is me adjusting an image I love it.
Ive a short, easily accessible hike planned for tomorrow. Winter hiking is a work in progress & tomorrow a test.
I have to start somewhere, then take a step.

Once this cold snap concludes I cannot wait to hit the trail.

Good day!
I got much needed sleep last night. Maybe now I can be more productive. My editing is lagging.
It was well below freezing yesterday, but a little warmer with sun & I was overdressed. Hard to believe.
I need is a good starter hike for snowshoeing. Trial & error, I guess.

Good day!
By the time I walk this morning itll be a balmy 15F (-9.4C). Ill still stick with winter gear.
Keeping my distance from certain events, yesterday, I instead was able to embrace the magic of editing. It felt great.
Itll be the same today, but Ill also draft a blog postwith Evie purring beside me.

Good day!
I took my 2.2 mile (3.5K) walk on the Milwaukee Trail. It wasnt exactly busy.
It was 2F (-16.7C). Taking off my outer glove to take the picture was a race against time.
Otherwise, it was perfectly warm.
Now, Ill stay inside, do chores, edit, & not watch the news. My anxiety is doing quite well right now, thank you.

Good day!
Looking south. Blue Mountain is to the right, (I climbed it last year). Lolo Peak is at center.
Its 2F (-16.7C) at present and, yes, Ill walk. More than likely, Ill have the city trail to myself.
When its this cold, its like walking through a still picture.

Good day!
A frigid day, but Ill still walk the Milwaukee Trail alone, like yesterday.
Low teens (-12C), light wind.
I still fed the squirrels. I still experienced the world at its most peaceful. And still, when almost home, started to overheat.

Good day!
Luna escaping the fog.
Sometimes it pays to look up.
Today when I walk itll be about 11F (-11.6C) when I walk. It isnt the cold that matters, but having the right gear. Then, the cold is exhilarating.
Major breakthrough with Book3, Ch.1 yesterday. Ill finish it today. Its been a thorn in my typing fingers.

Took a nice sunset walk along the waterfront this afternoon. This footbridge led me to a long jetty that juts way into the harbor. No wind and calm reflective water made it especially picturesque!
There is just very little that's better than a winter hike. Back in our old home stomping grounds for a weekend.

Good day!
The deep freeze begins almost exactly when we had it last year, though probably not as bad. Last year, my sunglasses literally froze.
I now have goggles. Bring on the cold!
One more bleeder chapter (needs lots of work) to edit on Book3. Editing is like pottery, adding, subtracting, watching it take shape.

Some snow gear is on the way.
At last, Ive no errands to run, but plenty to do at home, like edit Book3. Theres lots more, but I take the other tasks slower.
